Carrie Fisher will be back as Princess Leia

Carrie Fisher has confirmed she will reprise her Princess Leia character in the much-anticipated "Star Wars" revamp.

The actress and co-stars Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill were each approached by the sci-fi films' creator George Lucas and the franchise's new bosses at Disney and asked to be a part of "Star Wars VII," and now Fisher tells Palm Beach Illustrated magazine she is onboard the next film, which will be directed by J.J. Abrams.

When asked what she thinks her updated Leia will look like in the new film, she jokes, "Elderly. She's in an intergalactic old folks' home. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle."

The news is a big boost for Fisher's fans after the actress suffered a psychiatric breakdown during a performance on a cruise ship in the Caribbean last month. The star, who is bipolar, was hospitalized while medics adjusted her medication.
